The studios are located on Broad Street in downtown Lake Charles and the broadcaster in Sulfur, Louisiana. The station was broadcast in 1977 with the call sign KTQQ and referred to as "Q101 - The Country Boss". In the eighties, it was a fierce competitor to the KYKZ 96 land station. It was originally at a frequency of 100.9 MHz.
