WAOK (1380 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Atlanta, Georgia. It is owned by Entercom and broadcasts a talk radio format aimed at the African American community. WAOK has local hosts in the morning and afternoon with the syndicated Rev. Al Sharpton show, which can be heard in the early afternoon. WAOK sends out studios at Colony Square in Midtown Atlanta. It is Atlanta's third oldest continuously licensed radio station and the fifth oldest in Georgia. WAOK is a class B station. It operates during the day with a 25,000 watt non-directional antenna. To protect other stations of the AM 1380 at night, as the radio waves continue to propagate, the power is reduced to 4,200 watts and a directional antenna is used. The transmitter is located at Chalmers Drive NW in Atlanta, near the Ralph David Abernathy Freeway (Interstate 20). WAOK can also be heard in the HD-3 subchannel of sister station 103.3 WVEE.
