KOMO (1000 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station authorized in Seattle, Washington, and serving the Seattle metropolitan area. Owned by the Sinclair Broadcast group, the radio station mainly broadcasts the radio format for all news. This is the local branch of ABC News Radio and identifies itself as “KOMO News 1000 AM and 97.7 FM.” KOMO is a class A light channel station that transmits 50,000 watts of maximum power to American AM stations. It is not straightened during the day, but uses a directional antenna at night to avoid disturbances at WMVP Chicago and XEOY Mexico City, the other two Class A stations, at 1000 o'clock. KOMO is heard during the day from Vancouver (British Columbia) to Portland (Oregon) with a good radio (indistinct). At night it can be heard in many parts of North America. The station's studios and offices are located in the KOMO Plaza (formerly Fisher Plaza) at the foot of Queen Anne Anne's Seattle, opposite the Space Needle, along with the KOMO TV sister station.
