The KRTR-FM (96.3 FM, "KRATER 96") is a contemporary adult music formatted radio station serving Honolulu, Hawaii. The SummitMedia outlet transmits with a 74 kW ERP and is licensed to Kailua, Hawaii. The station's studios are located in downtown Honolulu and its transmitter is located east of Diamond Head, Hawaii. KRTR signed as KSHO on October 31, 1978, as a soft jazz shop with the lyrics called KSHO. His sister station at the time was the powerhouse of Jazz KKGO FM Los Angeles. Every year, the stations broadcast live from the Monterey Jazz Festival. In 1984, KSHO changed to KRTR and the station format changed from soft jazz to adult contemporary using a music format directed by "Drake Chenault". By 2003, they would evolve into an adult Top 40 direction after Cox acquired the station. In 2010, he returned to the CA Mainstream direction.
